(ABC News: Chantelle Al-Khouri)In sentencing MacGill, the judge said while his knowledge of the eventual deal was limited, the introduction of the pair resulted in the supply of cocaine."The offender therefore played an indispensable role in the preliminary discussions over a number of days and facilitated the supply by introducing the buyer to the supplier," she said.MacGill did not react to the sentence in court and did not speak to the media pack as he left the building.Speaking outside the court, MacGill's barrister Thos Hodgson said the former cricketer's legal team would consider whether to appeal both the conviction and the sentence. However, he described the sentence as a win "of sorts".Posted 3h ago3 hours agoFri 9 May 2025 at 1:01am, updated 1h ago1 hours agoFri 9 May 2025 at 3:29amShare optionsCopy linkFacebookX (formerly Twitter)SportA ringer, a Rebel and two Aussies are named for the British and Irish LionsTopic:ExplainerPhoto shows Maro Itoje sits with Andy FarrellHow this understated Aussie's 'unreal' level could upset the Giro favouritesTopic:Road Cycle RacingPhoto shows Michael Storer competes at Paris Nice in the snowAustralian players consider leaving IPL amid blackouts and travel chaosTopic:CricketPhoto shows GettyImages-2214087807'I've cried that much': Essendon star details toll of brutal injuryTopic:AFLPhoto shows GettyImages-2206309175Hinkley supports Rioli, backs Port's stance on 'persistent' racism in AFLTopic:AFLPhoto shows Ken Hinkley and Willie Rioli shake hands as Rioli holds a yellow football in his left handTop StoriesTaylor confirms Liberal leadership showdown with Ley, PM urges unity in caucusLIVEPhoto shows Angus Taylor press conferenceAustralia's political conclave theatrics feel blokey, but the future is femaleAAnalysis by Annabel CrabbPhoto shows Sussan LeyErin Patterson took son on hours-long drive despite feeling sick, murder trial hears — as it happenedTopic:Law, Crime and JusticePhoto shows A digital drawing of Erin Patterson wearing a pink shirtChina criticises Australia over joint exercises in South China SeaTopic:Defence and National SecurityPhoto shows A Philippine Navy AW159 helicopter with the the HMAS Sydney in the background.
