(Facebook: Channel 7)The TV news service, which already carries national 7 News content but is produced locally, attracts about 70,000 viewers per night and employs about 30 people. There had been concerns amongst staff that a sale to ADH would result in "editorial intrusions", as well as concerns that a sale to ADH would threaten live sport, particularly AFL coverage in Tasmania — but they were quickly dispelled by ADH director Jason Morrison at the time. However, the deal — which was worth a reported $6.35 million — fell through due to "final conditions" to complete the transaction not being satisfied, according to a statement released by Southern Cross today.Seven West Media is the parent company of the Seven Network and owns a number of newspapers. (Facebook: Channel 7)It's not known how, or if, Seven West plans to restructure any of its acquisitions, including the Tasmanian news service. Both Southern Cross and Seven West have been contacted for comment.Seven West Media is the parent company of the Seven Network and owns The West Australian Newspaper, Sunday Times and a raft of Western Australian local newspapers under its Community Newspaper Group banner. It has swooped to purchase the last of Southern Cross's TV assets in a move it says will mean "Seven will reach almost 100 per cent of Australia's population," excluding the Riverland region in South Australia.Posted 11m ago11 minutes agoTue 6 May 2025 at 4:12amShare optionsCopy linkFacebookX (formerly Twitter)Top StoriesErin 'very reluctant' to let lunch guests near pantry, court hearsLIVEPhoto shows A digital drawing of Erin Patterson wearing a pink shirtNationals deputy leader 'shattered' she will likely lose Senate seatLIVEPhoto shows Perin Davey listens to a press conference by Water Minister Tanya Plibersek at Parliament HouseCould Labor's thumping election win put tax reform back on the agenda?Topic:TaxPhoto shows A man sitting on a stage wearing a suit and tie.Grandmother in custody as town reels after deaths of two young boysLIVEPhoto shows CoonabarabranGreens' Adam Bandt in danger as seat of Melbourne remains on knife's edgeTopic:ElectionsPhoto shows A composite photo of a brunette woman, brown haired man with glasses, blonde woman with glasses and dark haired man.Related storiesConservative news operator takes over 7 Tasmania, other television assetsTopic:MediaPhoto shows A black building with a big red 7 logoNewspaper publisher ACM plans to cut all mastheads to one print edition per weekTopic:MediaPhoto shows Fairfax is planning on cutting 36 full-time jobs from the Newcastle Herald.Newsprint maker set to embark on new chapter as newspapers declineTopic:Business, Economics and FinancePhoto shows Aerial photograph of a paper millPress stops in Launceston for first time in 180 years — not for breaking news, but a machinery breakdownTopic:Print MediaPhoto shows Two newspapers sit on a tableSA's last locally produced commercial regional news show axedTopic:TelevisionPhoto shows A modest-looking television bureau featuring a sign bearing the logos of several television networks.Related topicsHobartLauncestonMedia IndustryTASTakeoversTop StoriesErin 'very reluctant' to let lunch guests near pantry, court hearsTopic:Law, Crime and JusticePhoto shows A digital drawing of Erin Patterson wearing a pink shirtNationals deputy leader 'shattered' she will likely lose Senate seatTopic:ElectionsCould Labor's thumping election win put tax reform back on the agenda?Topic:TaxGrandmother in custody as town reels after deaths of two young boysTopic:CrimeGreens' Adam Bandt in danger as seat of Melbourne remains on knife's edgeTopic:ElectionsJust InSeven West Media to buy Tasmania's Channel 7 and other Southern Cross TV assetsTopic:Media Industry11m ago11 minutes agoTue 6 May 2025 at 4:12amLocals torch WA council's 'silly' blanket ban on fire pitsTopic:Local Government23m ago23 minutes agoTue 6 May 2025 at 4:00amMushroom meal survivor takes the stand in Erin Patterson's trialTopic:Law, Crime and Justice19m ago19 minutes agoTue 6 May 2025 at 4:03am'I could have been a Steve Irwin': Woman barbed by stingray near artery in armTopic:Marine Incidents52m ago52 minutes agoTue 6 May 2025 at 3:30amMore Just InBack to top
