(ABC Kimberley: Mya Kordic )In short:WA police have charged a 19-year-old man after a teenager was allegedly sexually assaulted at a beach "bush-doof" in Broome over the weekend.The incident happened at Cable Beach in the early hours of Sunday morning, police say.What's next?The incident echoes a previous attack at a Broome beach party in 2022 where police are still searching for the offender.abc.net.au/news/teenager-allegedly-raped-at-broome-bush-doof/105230326Link copiedShareShare articleA 19-year-old man has faced court after being charged with raping a teenager at a "bush doof" beach party in the tourism town of Broome over the weekend.A police spokesperson said the alleged incident happened at Cable Beach, 2,080 kilometres north of Perth, in the early hours on Sunday.Sexual assault support lines:1800 Respect National Helpline: 1800 737 732Men's Referral Service: 1300 766 491Lifeline (24-hour crisis line): 131 114Victims of Crime Helpline: 1800 819 817Full Stop Australia: 1800 385 578The man from Cable Beach appeared before the Broome Magistrates Court on Wednesday facing one count of aggravated sexual penetration without consent.Police allege the 19-year-old sexually assaulted the teenage girl, who was known to him, in the vicinity of the event on the beach.The court heard the teenager was between 13 and 16 years old."Doofs" are popular in the tourism town with impromptu outdoor dance parties frequently held at local beaches and in bushland just outside the Broome town centre.The man's defence lawyer Ruby Lee applied for bail, telling the court he had no previous court record and accepted the allegations were "extremely serious".Police Prosecutor Mícheál Gregg said the teenage girl was "quite deeply distressed" and due to the serious nature of the allegations, if bail was granted to the man, it should be outside of Broome.The 19-year-old was granted bail outside of Broome with a personal undertaking of $1,000.Conditions for his bail included reporting to police, no unsupervised contact with children under the age of 16, and protective conditions for the teenage girl and three other people.The man's next court date is scheduled for June 9.Reward outstanding after 2022 attackThe incident comes as police continue to search for a man who sexually assaulted a party-goer at another 'bush-doof' in 2022.Police on the way to investigate a sex assault that happened a Broome beach in 2022.
