(Supplied: WA Police)abc.net.au/news/murder-charge-over-police-officer-death-downgraded-/103959214Link copiedShareShare articleA man who allegedly killed a WA police officer has had his murder charge downgraded to manslaughter just days before his trial.Reagan Ainsley Chown was charged with murdering Constable Anthony Woods in 2023, after the police officer was dragged under a car during a traffic stop in the Perth suburb of Ascot.But Prosecutor Justin Whalley told the Supreme Court this morning that the facts could not be established for murder.Constable Anthony Woods, pictured with his wife Emily, died in hospital after being run over. (Supplied: ABC News)The 28-year-old police officer died in hospital in June 2023."Constable Anthony Woods exemplified the values of the WA Police Force, and his memory will be forever etched in our hearts," WA police said in a statement shortly after his death.Reagan Chown allegedly ran down the constable, pinning and dragging him under the car.
