in the final days of the campaign have Labor extending its lead on the Coalition, adding to expectations it will come out on top on election day.YouGov's final poll of the election projects Labor is on course to win between 76 to 85 seats based on its modelling, which would be an outright majority even on the lowest end of that range. At a two-party-preferred level the poll shows Labor with a 53 per cent lead to the Coalition's 47 per cent. Its polling has shown a reversal in fortunes for Labor since the beginning of this year, when it projected the likelihood of a Labor government at just 1 per cent.A final RedBridge poll reported in the Daily Telegraph also reports Labor extending its two-party-preferred lead to 53 per cent, to the Coalition's 47 per cent, which would be an improvement on its result at the 2022 election. Both continue a trend of improved polling for Labor — however politicians remain cautious of those results after 2019 polling misread that election and wrongly predicted a Labor win.ReactReactCopy link28m agoWed 30 Apr 2025 at 9:55pmWells asked if Voice to Parliament will make a comebackCBy Caitlin RawlingAnika Wells was asked about the Voice to Parliament and whether she thinks it will make a comeback whilst she is in parliament. She says the Voice in the form of the referendum is gone and they have to respect the votes and the opinions of the decision that was made by people."They made that very clear, but we're always looking for ways to help First Nations people and for that policy to be tangible and credible," she says.ReactReactCopy linkKey Event38m agoWed 30 Apr 2025 at 9:45pm'More holes than a golf course': Anika Wells on the Coalition's costings preview statementCBy Caitlin RawlingAnika Wells has been asked about the Coalition's costings after the opposition said gross debt would be $40 billion lower under under Peter Dutton by 2028-29 ahead of Shadow Treasurer Angus Taylor releasing the costings later today. She has been asked if she thinks the Coalition will be able to find those savings."The Coalition has more holes than a golf course in the statement they have released to media overnight about their costings," Wells tells News Breakfast."I hope that people that are possibly 72 hours away from becoming Australia's government, they have got more detail to offer you all, the Socratic wonder of the fourth estate when they speak to you later today about those costings," she says.Loading...ReactReactCopy linkKey Event57m agoWed 30 Apr 2025 at 9:26pmAnika Wells on News Breakfast nowCBy Caitlin RawlingAged Care Minister and Sports Minister Anika Wells is on News Breakfast now.She says Labor has a "very decent chance" of knocking the Greens off in the seats of Brisbane, Ryan and Griffith.Wells says the reason for this is because of the party's focus on urgent care clinics, including a mental health clinic in Chermside in Brisbane's northern suburbs, it is promising for a second term."When you have got mental health difficulties or someone you love does, it's really hard to find the energy to go talk to a doctor, a doctor you trust, get a referral, sit on that wait list ... things like a mental health clinic feel tangible and feels like we understand their problems and we're trying our best to help," Wells tells News Breakfast.ReactReactCopy linkKey Event1h agoWed 30 Apr 2025 at 9:13pmNeo-Nazi flyers delivered to Jewish households in Melbourne, plus stunt at pre-poll bothMBy Melissa BrownA number of Jewish community members have had antisemitic political flyers authorised by a known neo-Nazi delivered to their homes in Melbourne's inner south-east.Naomi Levin from the Jewish Community Council of Victoria told the ABC she had close to a dozen community members contact her after the fliers were put in letterboxes in Caulfield on Wednesday, which has a significant Jewish population."The flyer has caused real anger and distress among the Jewish community," she said. The flyer is authorised by "Joel Davis, National Socialist Network".Joel Davis is a known neo-Nazi. He has previously been arrested for displaying Nazi symbols in South Australia. In addition to the flyers, ABC has seen video of a stunt at a pre-poll booth in Kew involving the same messaging. In the video, Joel Davis stands in front of the antisemitic signage and is accompanied by two men dressed up in costumes."Many people in the Jewish community will be voting this week … and they need to feel safe and free to vote like any other Australian".Independent MP Monique Ryan, who represents Kooyong, which includes Kew, says she's appalled by the neo-Nazi disruption at the Kew centre.State Liberal member for Kew, Jess Wilson, said it was an abhorrent display.ReactReactCopy linkKey Event1h agoWed 30 Apr 2025 at 8:56pm'You bet': PM on visiting WA 10 times a year if he wins electionJBy Jane Norman, on the trail with AlbaneseThe prime minister has travelled across the Nullabor as he begins his final blitz of battleground seats before polling day.His first stop? A polling booth on the border of Bullwinkel — a brand new seat that Labor wants to win — and Hasluck, one of four seats Labor picked up at the last election that delivered Anthony Albanese a majority government.Asked if he'd continue to visit WA 10 times a year, if he wins, he replied "you bet".Labor's brand is strong here in the west; the state government just won a third consecutive term, led by Premier Roger Cook who's campaigned alongside Albanese on each of his stops to Perth.(ABC News: Brendan Esposito)Before he jumped on a plane, Anthony Albanese delivered his final stump speech of the campaign in Canberra, telling voters he needs another three years to implement his agenda and emphasising "the power of a stable, reforming majority Labor government".His message was that at a time of great global uncertainty, his government offers stability.ReactReactCopy linkKey Event1h agoWed 30 Apr 2025 at 8:56pmOpposition Leader Peter Dutton back in BrisbanePBy Pablo Vinales, on the trail with DuttonOpposition Leader Peter Dutton has gone to his home state ahead of a frenetic day on the trail to begin in Brisbane. We expect it to be a long day across different states.Much of the focus today will be on the Coalition's election costings that will claim budget deficits would be at least $10 billion smaller than under Labor over the next four years.Chief digital political correspondent Jacob Greber explains here.Last night, Peter Dutton made a pit stop to the once-blue-ribbon-seat of Kooyong, now held by teal independent Monique Ryan. There had been questions about when Dutton would visit because of his unpopularity in what is a socially progressive part of town. But his destination was well scoped and seen as a safe location to drop by with Liberal candidate Amelia Hamer.(Supplied: James Brickwood)The Tower Hotel in Hawthorn is owned by a supporter of the Liberals and made headlines for campaigning against Monique Ryan with a massive sign displayed on the pub.Dutton was also joined by Senator Jane Hume, who along with Hamer, was photographed holding a stubby holder with the phrase "Monique, please DO NOT take this beer".It's a reference to an incident in which her husband removed a Liberal corflute. It's worth mentioning that it wasn't the entire travelling media contingent who accompanied Dutton to this event. The opposition leader took a smaller press pool as the rest travelled to his next destination.ReactReactCopy linkKey Event1h agoWed 30 Apr 2025 at 8:53pmWelcome to our live blogCBy Caitlin RawlingGood morning and welcome to our live coverage of the federal election campaign trail.Anthony Albanese is back in Perth campaigning, while Peter Dutton is back to campaign in Brisbane. It is going to be a jam-packed day, with Shadow Treasurer Angus Taylor releasing the Coalition's costings later today.Follow along as we bring you the latest from the campaign trail.ReactReactCopy linkPosted 1h ago1 hours agoWed 30 Apr 2025 at 8:59pmShare optionsCopy linkFacebookX (formerly Twitter)TimelineRead nextCommentsTimelineKey EventsLatestFinal polls show Labor extending lead over Coalition16m ago16 minutes agoWed 30 Apr 2025 at 10:07pm'More holes than a golf course': Anika Wells on the Coalition's costings preview statement38m ago38 minutes agoWed 30 Apr 2025 at 9:45pmAnika Wells on News Breakfast now57m ago57 minutes agoWed 30 Apr 2025 at 9:26pmNeo-Nazi flyers delivered to Jewish households in Melbourne, plus stunt at pre-poll both1h ago1 hours agoWed 30 Apr 2025 at 9:13pm'You bet': PM on visiting WA 10 times a year if he wins election1h ago1 hours agoWed 30 Apr 2025 at 8:56pmOpposition Leader Peter Dutton back in Brisbane1h ago1 hours agoWed 30 Apr 2025 at 8:56pmWelcome to our live blog1h ago1 hours agoWed 30 Apr 2025 at 8:53pmTop StoriesHackers have stolen almost 100 staff logins at the Big Four banks, experts sayTopic:Cyber CrimePhoto shows A generic graphic image including a gold dollar sign and some websites.Dutton turns to Voice as cost of living alone won't save the CoalitionDAnalysis by David SpeersCoalition to release 'materially better, in double digits' budget costingsTopic:BudgetBreaking: US, Ukraine sign deal two months after Oval Office clashTopic:World PoliticsThe strange 'ballot-fellows' revealed on parties' how-to-vote cardsTopic:ElectionsJust InUS, Ukraine sign deal two months after Oval Office clashBREAKING2m ago2 minutes agoWed 30 Apr 2025 at 10:21pm'Dancing to their tune': What Australia's neighbours want after this electionTopic:Elections18m ago18 minutes agoWed 30 Apr 2025 at 10:05pm'Sleeping power': The untapped voters that could help decide key seatsTopic:Elections23m ago23 minutes agoWed 30 Apr 2025 at 10:00pmRescuers fed up with tourists risking lives for selfies at coastal cliffTopic:Emergency Services24m ago24 minutes agoWed 30 Apr 2025 at 9:59pmMore Just InBack to top
