(ABC News: Joel Wilson)Ms Price is supported by Voices of Bean — part of the Community Independents movement.If she wins, she will be only the second independent elected to the House of Representatives in the ACT.The first was Lewis Nott who was the first MP in the Division of Australian Capital Territory from 1949 to 1951.The ACT had no representation in the Australian Parliament prior to 1949.David Smith was elected to the House of Representatives in 2019 and re-elected in 2022 with a swing to Labor of 3.6 per cent.Smith had previously served as an ACT senator from May 2018 to the 2019 election, elected to the Senate by the High Court after the disqualification of Katy Gallagher.In the most recent term, he served as Government Whip under Anthony Albanese.Other candidates for Bean are David Lamerton for the Liberal Party, and Sam Carter for the Greens.David Smith has represented Bean since 2019.
